In order to reflect the diversity of its worldwide community of users, Reddit has announced that it will now start supporting a multilingual interface: buttons, menus, and other surfaces will now be available in different languages.
Reddit also detailed updates to its Android and iOS home feed, specifically related to sort, writing in a separate blog post, “After 15-plus years and millions of feedback comments, survey responses, customer interviews and Mod Council conversations, we know that whether you’ve been here since the great Digg migration or because you heard about a little community called r/wallstreetbets, we want to help you find communities that you will love on Reddit. With that in mind, one of our biggest priorities is ensuring that you have a great experience on the platform and that it’s easy (and simple) for you to find the content you enjoy and communities where you belong.”
Reddit understood that to keep increasing its popularity it has to include translation which is why just last week the company launched its first phase of translation on its Android/iOS and web application, the first phase includes French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. The company in its recent blog post said that they are taking this initiative to support more languages and to increase coverage.
In order to change the language in which you would like to explore Reddit’s interface, you can follow the instructions below, depending on the device or system you use:
Android users:
Settings -> ‘view options’ -> ‘Language’ setting.
iOS users:
Settings -> ‘view options’ -> ‘Language’ setting.
Clicking on the language setting will link you to the app-specific language setting that’s part of your OS. When prompted, tap “Open Settings.”
